Get it right the first time
Establish a name-line hierarchy
The recipient name should be the largest text on the page — roughly twice the body size — followed by the certificate title, then the achievement description. Readers should find the name in under a second.
Include date, signatures, and a credential ID
A certificate is a record, not just decoration. Add the award date, at least one signature line with the signer’s printed name and role, and a short certificate number so it can be referenced later.
Keep the frame away from the trim edge
Leave at least 10 mm between your ornamental border and the page edge. Home and office printers cannot print to the edge, and a clipped frame ruins the formal look.
Limit yourself to two typefaces
One serif for the title and name (Georgia or Palatino), one supporting face for body text. More than two fonts makes an award look like a flyer.
